You don't have a personality.
Instead you have ruts, formed by using the same strategy over and over.
You may feel stuck in your ways and call that "personality" as an excuse, but the truth is, when you break free, there are so many more strategies available to you. You may hit the side of your rut and believe that is a sign you have a cemented personality, but in
fact, it's just mud. Your brain is plastic, which in neuroscience means it is flexable and can change.
Many strategies result in both strengths and weaknesses. Apply the appropriate strategy that provides the required strength to overcome each challenge.
Lets look at an example strategy.
INTROVERSION
Strength=Listening
Weakness=Human Interaction
This can spiral into a rut, if you avoid human interaction because you are not strong in human interaction, then you are not practicing human interaction so you get weaker at human interaction, which can encourage you to avoid human interaction.
What's the way out of this rut? Force yourself to practice.
Breaking free of your rut can be hard, because your brain is lazy and wants to do what's its strong at, because it already has made those things efficient. But you can use your brain's laziness to your advantage. By merely exposing yourself to difficult situations, your brain and body, desiring to use less energy, will make new neural pathways and muscle fibers and retune your metabolism to make the new challenge the new easy way.
Does introversion work for you? It may, but make sure that the weaknesses related to this strategy doesn't cause you to trip short of your purpose. If it does you may need to break free and go shopping for stronger alternative strategies.
"I used to think I had a personality, it was fun to take a test that asked questions about me, it felt good to be described and having a people who were like me. I could say, 'that's just how I was born" to excuse my weaknesses. But I was wrong. I'm not an introvert, I've simply dug an introvert path, so with effort and time I can cut any path I choose and discover new strength." -Chris
